Interested in minors? Not sure where to start? Check out the interdisciplinary minors fair featuring over a dozen minors here at McMaster!
Here at McMaster, interdisciplinary study is a prioritized method of learning, ensuring an intersectional, and broad scope to your education.
What is a minor?
A Minor is a distinction that a student can receive on their transcript upon graduation. It is not a degree. You are required to take 24 units from a specific Course List. You can take a Minor that is completely unrelated to your Major – that’s the point! Minors are an opportunity to show you have interests that are outside your main area of study.
Benefits of pursuing an Interdisciplinary Minor include diversifying your academic journey, gaining transferable skills, collaborating with community partners, gaining a global perspective, and sharpening critical thinking. Minors can launch you into a new study, support your major, or hone a specialization. Using electives and additional course offerings, you can achieve your 24 required units, the best part? You have probably already fulfilled required courses for an interdisciplinary minor!
What Minors will be here?
Globalization (obviously), Latin American and LatinX Studies, Africa and Black Diaspora Studies, Sustainability, Community Engagement, Civic Vitality, Democracy and Elections, Innovation and so much more!
Join us in the Student Centre (MUSC) to learn about what minor may be best for you!
